Jerusalem – Ummah University College – Under the patronage and presence of the Dean of Al-Ummah University College (Dr. Heba Barakat), and in the presence of a group of lecturers, students, and specialists from the local community, The (CARE) project team “Early Childhood Care in Palestine” at Al-Ummah University College held on Thursday, 23/03/2023 AD. A workshop aimed at transferring the most important experiences, information and skills received by the academic team in the project in some European Union countries, which included (Portugal, Italy and Greece), where the college team received training in prestigious and leading universities in the field of early childhood care. Which aimed to benefit from their expertise and their progress in this field. Dr. Barakat opened the workshop where she welcomed the attendees and thanked the project team at the college led by Eng. Abdul Mohsen Al-Qawasmi \ Project Coordinator (funded by the European Union -Erasmus+). She also thanked the project leadership (Al-Quds Open University) and partner universities and institutions locally and in Europe. In particular, the European universities that trained the academic team in the project: (University of Braganza / Portugal, University of Palermo / Italy and University of Crete / Greece). Al-Qawasmi stressed that the project carried out many activities and tasks, which contributed to the development of competencies for several academic and technical college staff and established the (CARE) center in the college, which is equipped with computers and modern equipment. And that the experiences and skills received by the training teams will contribute to the development and improvement of this vital and important sector, and that there are still more upcoming trainings, tasks and activities that will include the development of programs, books that will have a positive impact and reflection on the college and the local community in general. The sessions were divided into 3 parts, where the first part included sessions presented by Dr. Rabi Itair and Dr. Suhair Nasr about their experience through training at the University of Braganza \ Portugal on “Pedagogical Supervision in Early Childhood Education”. Followed by a discussion with the audience. The second part of the workshop included sessions presented by Dr. Firas Al-Asmar and Ms. Alaa Al-Qawasmi about their experience through training at the University of Palermo \ Italy on “Child development and the relationship with adults: the role of early childhood educational services from zero to six” followed by a discussion with the attendees. The third and final part of the workshop included sessions presented by Dr. Bassam Al-Hajj, Eng. Mai Obaid and Eng. Abdul Mohsen Al-Qawasmi about their experience at the University of Crete \ Greece on “Literacies in Early Childhood Education”. Finally, a number of attendees expressed their satisfaction and happiness to attend this workshop with valuable information and great benefits, which showed many strengths, weaknesses and challenges facing us as Palestinians and the work required of us to reduce the gaps and differences between us and what exists and is applied in the developed and leading countries in this field.
